Modern Ballroom and Latin American Dance Courses

Course Content:

Today, the ten Ballroom dances that are the foundation of the social dance scene are the same ten standard dances used in the International Ballroom Competition and Championships. They are waltz, quickstep, foxtrot, tango and Viennese waltz in the modern section and the rumba, samba, cha-cha-cha, jive, salsa and paso-doble in the Latin American section.

At least 3 dances in each section will be taught each week, progressing into each dance routine throughout the summer term which lasts for 15 weeks

 Course Aims:

The comprehensive teaching courses are run by Angela Horton. The programme will take beginners step by step through combinations necessary to dance complete figures around the dance floor. Contains special practice exercises to loosen you up and help you master the essential rhythms to take any dance floor with ease and confidence. A pleasant evening in sociable company. The course is suitable for couples and singles, although this does not always guarantee that singles will always be partnered by participating dance course members.

 What to Bring:

Please wear comfortable clothing and if you have them, dance shoes. If not, please ensure that shoes fit well and are comfortable. Please do not wear jeans, flip flops or trainers, as these are not suitable for Ballroom or Latin American dancing. Please bring bottled water to drink.
